Figueira da Foz

A Global Benchmark

The Figueira da Foz Industrial Complex is located in Lavos, to the south of Figueira da Foz.

The complex produces each year around 570 thousand tons of bleached eucalyptus pulp (BEKP) and 800 thousand tons of UWF (uncoated woodfree) printing and writing papers. The complex also houses a biomass cogeneration plant working in conjunction with the pulp mill to generate energy from renewable sources, as well as a natural gas combined cycle cogeneration plant.

The site's production capacity, combined with the sophisticated technology used, makes it one of the largest and most efficient industrial units in Europe.

Regarded as a global benchmark for the production of high quality eucalyptus pulps and paper, this was of course the birthplace of Navigator, the world's best-selling premium office paper brand.

Integrated Production

When the first paper machine came online in 1991, this became an integrated complex, combining pulp production with paper manufacture. Integration was take one step further in 2000 with the installation of the second paper machine.

The paper produced at the Figueira da Foz Industrial Complex is processed into sheets for the printing industry (large formats) and for office use (A3 and A4).
